1999 Porsche 911 996.1 Carrera Coupe
6-Speed Manual / Double Row IMS Bearing

Recent Blackstone Oil Inspection
27,900 Miles
Polar Silver Metallic (L92M) on Metropol Blue Full Leather (EG)
6-Speed Manual Transmission
1-Orange County Owner from New
Clean Carfax® / No Accidents / No Damage
Clean and Clear California title

These first-year water-cooled Porsche 911 cars with rear-wheel drive were a bit more analog with cable-driven throttle (last Porsche with this) and cable shifter. Furthermore, they came with a dual row IMS bearing that has proved to be far more robust and less likely to fail than the following year models. For protection, this owner just had a complete oil analysis by Blackstone Laboratories to confirm the health of the engine.
This Porsche was built in January of 1999 and sold new on March 13th, 1999 by Rusnak Porsche of Pasadena, California. It was ordered with the following factory options:
Polar Silver metallic paint option
Metropol Blue Optional (Full) Leather
Power seat package
Digital sound package with 490
18” Lt alloy wheels – Turbo Look
Wheels painted in exterior color
Wheel caps with colored crest
Litronic headlights
AM/FM radio with CD player
Black mats with Porsche lettering
Aluminum look instrument faces
3-Spoke steering wheel in leather
Aluminum/leather shifter and brake handle
Deviated carpet color
The MSRP was ,876.
The first owner was Mr. Webster Wiley of Pasadena, California. He kept this 911 for just over 7-years. During that time, he lightly used it and only added 17k-miles. He serviced it at the selling Porsche dealer. On July 21st, 2006 he sold it to the current owners with 17,214 miles. These owners are also close family friends and work together as well. For the last 14-years, the current owners have only added about 10k more miles. During that time, they serviced the car initially at Rusnak Porsche and then regularly at a local independent specialist in Montrose, California. Besides routine oil services, a driver door window regulator was replaced, a new driver door lock, and an airbag control module.
The last service was on July 10th, 2020 at 27,564 miles (yes, less than 500 miles ago). An oil service was completed as well as a full inspection. New rear Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires were installed as well as replaced the right variable valve timing adjuster seal. The brakes were noted to be at 75% all the way around. Furthermore, on July 15th, 2021, and less than 100 miles ago, a complete oil analysis was performed by Blackstone Laboratories. The results were excellent:
“This is a great first look under the hood of your Porsche. Universal averages for this type of 3.4L are based on oil run of 3,700 miles, and while this sample didn’t see much use, its metals are still reading just as low as could be hoped, showing that the internal parts are in a healthy state of wear. No fuel, water, or coolant contamination was found, and the insolubles (solids) measuring at only a trace level means the oil filter was doing an excellent job. The oil’s viscosity fits with a 0W/40 or 5W/40. Nice report.”
Before listing, we had our mechanic perform an inspection of this Carrera and he found it to be in excellent original condition with no signs of abuse or neglect. He did recommend a spark plug service with upgraded coil packs as a preventative measure.
The exterior of this 911 is in great shape and indicative of a low mile/well-cared-for example. The painted surfaces show minimal signs of wear and mostly original paint, which was verified with a paint meter. Although visually imperceptible, the paint meter shows a slight thickness on the right rear fender. The current owners aren’t aware of any paintwork being done during their care or during their friend’s ownership. The glass is all original, including the windshield and wearing the proper factory stampings. The wheels are in good shape with a couple of small spots of curb rash and are wearing near new rear tires and near full tread front tires that are older. Although there are no signs of age, they should be replaced. The brakes are at approximately 75% life remaining.
The interior is in excellent shape and also in line with a low mile and lightly driven 996. The leather seats have no tears or rips and just a slight sign of wear on the driver exit bolster. The rear seats, carpet, door panels, headliner, and dash all look great. All the gauges work properly as do all the other power functions. The A/C blows cold and the original stereo Hi-Fi system sounds surprisingly decent.
This 996 feels really tight and responsive. We’ve had several local experts drive this Porsche and they both independently noted how tight and new it felt. It’s hard to believe that it’s a 22-year old Porsche. It starts easily and has great acceleration. The power feels strong throughout the rev range. The 6-speed transmission shifts smoothly through all the gears with no slipping or grinding. The clutch engages properly. The brakes have good initial bite with no fading or pulling. Handling is crisp and precise. It’s quite easy to drive this car fast on twisting backroads.
California registration is paid to March of 2022 and it passes our California strict smog test.
This Porsche comes with 2 main keys, original owner’s manuals with vinyl case, original maintenance book, original window sticker, spare wheel/tire, jack, tool kit, original Porsche marketing/sales material, original magazine review from in period, and a current oil analysis report.
**Note: VIN and other numbers withheld to protect against fraud. All numbers including VIN, Engine, and color will be provided to serious buyers.
